Inverter Types and Features
An inverter is a device that converts Direct Current (DC) electricity to Alternating Current (AC) electricity. DC signal looks like a unidirectional straight line and AC signal looks like waves of ocean. DC wave cannot travel long distances hence the reason all our home electricity is supplied in AC manner.
In a solar-inverter system, the battery stores the power as DC, the inverter converts this DC current to AC current. Depending on the inverter circuit, it converts the DC current to Sine Wave AC current or Modified Wave AC current. This means that there are majorly two types of inverters- Sine wave inverters and Modified wave inverters.

A sine wave inverter output is very close to the AC current. It is in very pure form compared to Modified wave output. Many devices make humming noise and get heated up if you use them on Modified wave inverter.
