Fossil fuels are found in the ground and provides power for us in various ways. Some of the most popular fossil fuels include coal, oil and natural gas. These extracts have applications so numerous and the demand for these extracts keep increasing as world population increases.
Oil for instance is being drilled daily from oil wells located miles below the ground. There are indications that some of these wells are being exhausted as they follow the natural bell curve and cannot produce at optimum anymore. New oil wells are being discovered and drilled but with the ever-growing population of the world, the demand for these fuels will keep increasing at a very high rate.
This is one of the reasons that experts are beginning to predict that we might soon drain the earth of these fuels and have come up with different estimates ranging from 50 to over 100 years. No one can say for sure, but one thing is certain, demand is increasing, and new technology has to be used if we are to get to deeper levels of the earth crust to match this increasing demand.
Another school of thought states that if we assume that improved technology can assist in drilling all the oil deposits within the ground, how long will it be till these wells go dry? All indications point to the fact that these fuels are being diminished and would not be able to sustain the ever-increasing population as the year goes by.
Switching to Renewables is the best solution to reduce dependence on these fossil fuels.
